Led application team as coach for 

Rhode Island Department of Education via Education First 

in their CARES Act competitive Rethink grant

  • Served as coach for cross-divisional team, convened by Education First and funded by Walton and Schusterman Foundations, to support DOE in preparing their state's application

  • Of 37 states that applied, Rhode Island was selected as one of just ten winning states, receiving over $10.5 million in three years

Leading planning process for:

Rodel of Delaware

to align strategy among Ed Prep Programs and Districts to best serve high needs schools  

  • Convening multiple partners, including the Department of Education, college and university Educator Preparation Programs, and districts and charters

  • Funded by the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, to drive meaningful partnerships that advance alignment on hiring needs and supports Ed Prep Programs to be increasingly responsive to needs in schools

Co-facilitated national workgroup for four years:

High-Quality Culturally Responsive Instruction

Alongside the Council of Chief State School Officers

  • Workgroup for senior leaders from nineteen state Departments of Education, over four years, in collaboration with CCSSO

  • Evolved from Closing the Achievement Gap to Supporting Students Below Grade Level, and finally to High-Quality Culturally Responsive Instruction. 

  • Focus was on advancing practice at the "sweet spot" of culturally responsive teaching and standards-aligned instruction.

Facilitating professional learning for: 

Teaching Lab at the MA Dept of Elem and Secondary Ed & Lafayette, LA Parish School System

  • Supporting teacher leadership, continuous improvement, and curriculum-specific professional learning

  • At MA DOE, convened state's PD facilitators to learn about and plan for a new model for teacher PD; built out facilitator supports and provided on-site feedback.

  • In Lafayette, LA, training cohort of teachers on continuous improvement process using the Guidebooks

Supporting Chief Academic Officers from two states as part of:

Instructional Materials and Professional Development Network

Convened by CCSSO, and funded by the Gates and Schusterman Foundations

  • Serving High Quality Instructional Materials and Professional Learning Network - convened by CCSSO, Schusterman, and Gates - as a consultant and coach for Chief Academic Officers and their teams

  • Working alongside EdReports and other national partners to signal quality and implement high-quality materials

  • Supporting curriculum-specific professional learning selection, implementation, and intersections with Ed Prep Programs

Facilitated working group and authored strategic plan for:

The School District of Philadelphia

With Bloom Planning, developed strategy for Best Practice Sites for the Office of Early Childhood, funded by William Penn Foundation

  • Led a working group of chiefs, assistant superintendents, literacy experts, principals, and teachers union

  • Facilitated development of concept for team-based professional learning among early childhood teachers

  • Wrote strategic plan, led focus groups and feedback, including risk mitigation, accountability, and communications

PA Department of Education

As part of their Comprehensive Support Initiative, with Propel Charter Schools

  • Supporting Pennsylvania's Comprehensive Support Initiative as a School Improvement Facilitator

  • School improvement planning using a continuous improvement cycle and process

Studying the stories of success and trends of challenges across four schools in the Innovation Network, funded by the Barra Foundation 

  • Supported lead researcher and research assistants as they studied the story of success and trends of challenges across four schools in Philadelphia's Innovation Network

  • Providing lens of instructional leadership, standards alignment, and instructional materials. 

  • Helped develop framework and made conceptual contributions during writing of report
